Eagle Creek Resort in Benton County, TN was owned by Terry Russel and on the property, he built a music auditorium where Rick would perform every Saturday night during parts of 1980 and 1981. In order to promote the resort, Rick started a radio show titled Eagle Creek Country which aired on four radio stations in West Tennessee. These songs played on the show.

In the year 2017, the CD album Making It In America was rereleased to commemorate the twenty-fifth anniversary of its original release in 1992.
Rick did a concert with Clinton Gregory and opened with his truck driving song Making It In America. The song went on to be featured in Super Trucker Magazine and was played on the Charlie Douglas "Road Gang" show on WWL in New Orleans.
On Cheyenne Country, Charlie Daniels introduced Rick as one of the most prolific songwriters to come to Nashville in many years. He got to sing two of his chart toppers, The Reverend Hollywood and Love In Your Eyes.

Songwriting friend Ruthie Steele requested Rick to record Heroes Not Zeroes so she could pitch it to Lee Greenwood.
Inspired by the legendary Merl Haggard, Rick penned I See Red to speak out against flag burning. Some call it a first amendment right to burn a flag, but Rick calls it for what it is, disrespect. It is the ultimate patriotic song.
